Run The Risk Blog Tour: Q and A with Lori Foster and Giveaway!

Today at The Book Pushers we are welcoming Lori Foster who has a Q & A  on new release  – Run The Risk which kicks off a brand new series!

Q&A

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

You know, even if you try NOT to leave a message, there always is. Parts of our personalities come through. My characters always love animals, because I think that’s important. I wouldn’t trust someone who didn’t like animals. And kids always come first, because they *should.* Families are not always blood related; I have a sister, a stepsister, and a half-brother – but they’re my siblings through and through. My stepdad *was* my dad, no “step” to it. So for me, it’s about who you love, who is in your life, more than any actual blood relationship.

How much of the book is realistic?

I suppose the characters have to be “real” or readers wouldn’t relate to them. The emotions of falling in love are real. How the characters react to it, and how they survive past and present hurts, are I hope realistic. But nothing about this story is based on fact, either to actual people or situations.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Not in this book, no. But I have incorporated my own emotions in other books, just as I assume all authors do. What we think and feel, how we react, the truth of our lives, it seeps into the writing sometimes. Overall, my life has been blessed, but boring. No great adventures or danger. I married young, have stayed married to the same amazing man (34 years now!) and we’ve raised healthy sons. Nothing book-worthy about any of that. But I have to say, it’s awfully nice. J

What books have most influenced your life?

While I love reading, books are entertainment for me. I read for enjoyment, not enlightenment. I’ve very, very based in reality, so I don’t get fiction confused with real life. Besides, real life has been pretty amazing. A challenge on occasion, sure. No one skates by without a few bumps in the road. But I found my “happily ever after” on the 3rd day of my sophomore year of high school – aka met my hubby that day – and we’ve been on the same page ever since, no pun intended.

A police detective goes undercover to investigate a murder, and his target is a mousy young lady he believes is the link he needs to solve the case. But little does he know that his plain-Jane suspect has her own secrets that will turn his case head over heels before it’s over. From award-winning author Lori Foster comes RUN THE RISK, the first book in her brand-new original series.

When handsome construction worker Logan Riske moves next door to the dowdy young Pepper Yates, she can’t believe her luck. Her new beau has everything she wants in a guy—looks, charm, style.  He also has one thing she doesn’t even suspect—a badge.

Logan is really an undercover cop investigating the homicide of his best friend and he’s sure that the shy, introverted Pepper is concealing the whereabouts of her eyewitness brother, Rowdy. Logan needs Rowdy’s testimony to bring crime boss Morton Andrews to justice for the murder, and he’ll go to any lengths to obtain it—even seducing Rowdy’s wallflower sister.

The longer Logan’s seductive charade goes on, however, the more he starts to see through Pepper’s drab exterior to the true beauty beneath. Despite all his training, Logan can’t stop himself from falling for Pepper.  But to warn her now will cost him any chance of trapping her brother and bringing his friend’s killer to justice. Like it or not, Logan’s going to see this masquerade through to the end, even if it costs him what he now values most—Pepper.

But Pepper Yates is no one’s fool. She and her brother have managed to survive on the run by trusting no one, especially a flirtatious neighbor with romantic intentions. Despite her undeniable attraction to Logan, Pepper isn’t about to risk her brother’s life by falling prey to her passions.

But no matter what she does, it may be too late. Rowdy is already caught in the killer’s crosshairs and Pepper knows it’s up to her to do whatever it takes to save him no matter who stands in her way…even Logan.

We also have a copy of RUN THE RISK to giveaway to a lucky reader although sadly it is only restricted to US/Canada residents.   All you have to do to enter is to comment below! Good luck and the giveaway will end midnight the 28th of October.

  1. She’s very lucky to have met “the one” so early!! My parents met when they were 12 and just celebrated 40 years together.

  2. Lori Foster’s books are wonderful. Every books she has written is as real as the scenario going to get. It’s like being a doctor and watching ER. There are some scenes that are not true. Thanks for doing excellent research.

  3. thanks for a fun post and congrats to Lori on the newest release! I haven’t read Lori’s books yet b/c I live under a rock, but they are high on my wishlist 🙂
