Guest Post & Giveaway with HelenKay Dimon

Today we have HelenKay Dimon here at the blog to talk to us about her newest release – Lean On Me.  I’ve had the pleasure of meeting HelenKay, and I can say that not only are her books wonderful to read, but she is pretty great as well.

HelenKay, welcome to The Book Pushers!

Thank you for having me here today to talk about my newest release, LEAN ON ME.

LEAN ON ME is a contemporary romance.  Whenever I give a talk or workshop about writing or publishing I take questions from the audience. There are a few thoughts that come up with some frequency. People will ask where ideas come from or how writers write. And sometimes I get this one: why write romance? The real answer for me is: why not?

I mean, it seems obvious that I would want to write and read about people finding love and overcoming obstacles. Those are some very powerful things. If I had to sum it up in a word, and I’m often asked to do that, I’d pick hope. Life can be tough. Romance novels offer a break, if only for a little while, from sadness, depression and pain.  They stand for the idea that there are better days ahead and sometimes we do get what we need.

In LEAN ON ME the heroine, Cassidy, returns to town after a rough career implosion. She’s looking for a place to stay and a little time to get back on her feet. What she needs is a break.  Well, that’s what she thinks she needs.  She really needs to believe again…and the hero, Mitch, helps her do that. It’s not perfect or easy, but I hope it works for you.

Thanks so much HelenKay! We are also offering one lucky winner an ecopy of Lean On Me. Just leave the answer to the question: “Why READ Romance?” to be entered to win. Giveaway is open Internationally and ends on November 16th. Good Luck!

  1. I love reading romance, because I love reading character-driven stories. Also, I don’t want to be utterly depressed when I’m reading, and romances have a HEA or HFN.

  2. Romance books have the “feel good” that takes me away from the real world. I know no matter what mood I am in, a romance book will transport me to a better place.

  3. This book has came at the right time. I’m facing a career implosion (or rather a job implosion). All I know is I’m not happy where I am and I have been venting a lot. This book can definitely gave me a few pointers.

  4. Why not read Romance? I read lots of genres of books but Romance is one of my favorites. It fills in where real life is sometimes lacking. They usually have good endings..something not found in other kinds of stories.

  5. Thanks for the great post and congrats to Helenkay on the newest release! I say read romance b/c it’s a happy escape from real life and everything is usually so “perfect” 🙂

  6. I read romance because of the hope and optimism that is found in those books.. and yes, the happy endings. They are definitely a “pick me up” when you are in dire need of one. 😉
