Hot & Cold Blog Tour

I am so, SO, excited to have two of my favorite authors here today as they go around the blogosphere on the Hot & Cold Blog Tour. Both Vivian Arend and Elle Kennedy can heat up you and cool you down quickly. They are here today to talk about Hot Kiss. *fans self* Can’t wait! Take it away girls!

Cool Canadians, Hot Contemporaries

November 20, Vivian Arend and Elle Kennedy share a release day at Samhain Publishing: ROCKY MOUNTAIN ANGEL and GETTING HOTTER. We’re stopping off at some of our favorite blogs to ramble for a bit and share some COOL or HOT excerpts, just for fun. The theme for this post?

Hot Kisses

~~**~~

Viv: We’re talking about Hot Kisses and I think both of our excerpts are first kisses.

‪Elle: Yes, they are. I love that Gabe and Allison kiss 🙂

‪Viv: Why, thank you! They enjoyed it as well.

‪Elle: Haha. I’m sure they did.

‪Viv: There’s something so…delicious about the first kiss.

‪Elle: I know! But lately it’s also getting tough for me to write a good kiss scene. I feel like it’s hard to make it different each time.

‪Viv: But the reality is, first kisses aren’t always different. I mean, it’s the people and place that make it special. But it’s either awkward, or tender or hot…

‪Elle: Very true.

‪Viv: And even the people and places affect that. Do you remember a first kiss you got?

‪Elle: How do we define first kiss? Like a peck? Or with tongue?

‪Viv: LOL. Define it anyway you want, darling.

‪Elle: OK, then I won’t count those silly spin-the-bottle type situations where it’s a quick peck on the lips and then you both break apart in terror.

‪Viv: HA! Not a kiss, definitely.

‪Elle: My first kiss was probably at 15 then. It was okay. Kind of awkward. He was too tongue-aggressive.

‪Viv: OH MY WORD, me too. I thought he was going for my tonsils with his tongue.

Elle: What is up with that??

‪Viv: LOL. Lizard instincts.

‪Elle: And then my face was all saliva-y and I had to wipe it off with my sleeve.

‪Viv: Classy.

‪Elle: Thank you. LOL But yeah, I think Gabe and Seth are pretty skilled at kissing. Better than teenage boys, definitely.

‪Viv: Thank goodness. I’m glad our heroes know the fine art of the kiss.

Getting Hotter

The kiss rivaled the storm that raged outside the house—powerful and all-consuming. Her lips were soft, warm, and he could feel them trembling as he rubbed his mouth over hers in a fleeting caress. There it was, his one taste, and it wasn’t enough, not by a long shot. Miranda must have agreed, because she didn’t pull away, didn’t protest when he coaxed her lips open with his tongue and licked his way inside.

She let out the sexiest little moan he’d ever heard when their tongues met. He swallowed the sound and angled his head to deepen the kiss, letting their tongues swirl and explore.

The only contact between them was their fused mouths and his hand resting lightly on her jaw. Her arms didn’t come around his neck. His other hand didn’t explore her sweet curves.

Their lower bodies didn’t collide.

And yet it was the most erotic kiss of his entire life.

Rocky Mountain Angel

One step forward brought him close enough to touch. One more, and Allison was ready to edge against the wall to get out of his way. That was her plan until he reached out and caught her, one hand snaking around the back of her neck, the other around her body so he could pull them tight together. He lowered his mouth over hers deliberately, slow enough she could have retreated if she’d wanted to.

She was too surprised to move. Or at least that was the excuse she gave herself.

His lips were firm but gentle. No tongue, just a meeting of mouths. Kisses, one after another followed as he controlled her position, not allowing her to squirm away. And when she opened her mouth to complain he took total advantage, deepening the kiss until she was ready to pass out for the second time that day.

Pass out, or she was about to wrap her arms around him and grind their bodies together, she was so excited. From kissing. From the feel of his long, hard body pressed up tight against hers.

He let her go, leaning away. Cool air and regret he hadn’t done more than simply kiss her hit about the same time. Holy cow, what had she gotten herself into?

  1. My favorite is the kiss during the lighting storm in Sweet Home Alabama between Melanie (Reese Witherspoon) and Jake (Josh Lucas). Gives me butterflies!

  2. Eek. I’m not a big movie goer, and I hate chick flicks. I know I’ve seen some on screen kisses, but sad to say, I can’t think of many! By default (it’s the only one I can really picture) I will go with Tom Cruise and Rebecca Demornay on the subway in Risky Business.

  3. I’m really bad both with watching movies AND with remembering what I’ve watched 😉 My two favorites are still When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride, so one of those has got to have a decent first-kiss scene 😉 And I am thankful that a first kiss doesn’t necessarily have to have the same level of…novelty as that very FIRST kiss 😉 Too much tongue? Ick!

  4. I love kisses in the rain, especially the one in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the upside down one in Spiderman.

  5. I don’t watch a lot of movie. But The Notebook had a pretty hot kissing scene.
Love the little convo between Viv and Elle.LOL

  6. I wasn’t a huge fan of the movie (or the book, for that matter), but I feel like I must show support for my fellow Canucks and go with the Ryan Gosling/Rachel McAdams snogfest-in-the-rain in THE NOTEBOOK.

That upside-down kiss in SPIDER-MAN with Kirsten Dunst & Tobey Maguire is a close second.

  7. Yay! Love these authors! Thanks for doing this giveaway!
Hottest movie kiss, hmmm…. The Notebook when he is kissing her in the rain. Melts your heart when he tells her it isn’t over and makes you crave a strong man to hold you and kiss you like he means it!

  8. I’m gonna cheat a bit and say the kiss at the end of the 1995 Cirian Hinds/Amanda Root Persuasion where there’s a street fair going on in the background and it’s probably not the first kiss they’ve ever had but it’s been the first the audience has gotten to see and the first they’ve had after seven years of separation… and yeah, it’s a great one.

  9. I have to agree that the kiss at the end of Sweet Home Alabama is swoon worthy, and SO SO hot. I own the movie and could watch it just for that kiss. Sigh.

  10. I’d have to say that dawn is breaking kiss between Elizabeth and Darcy in the latest version of Pride and Prejudice w/ Kira Knightly 🙂 Thanks for the great post and giveaway!

  11. i can’t really remember a good one but I just saw the movie with Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep , Ihave no idea what the name of the movie was though.

  12. At the end of Strange Days, Angela Bassett & Ralph Fiennes deliver one of the hottest kisses… a lip lock that will weaken your knees. LOL. It’s a strange movie but that scene makes it worth watching.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. The hottest kisses would be from Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Star-crossed lovers that can never be.

  14. Don’t watch movies! (I know weird right??) I would really love to win these prizes. The books sound really great. I’ll be adding these too the wish list. Thanks for the chance.

  15. The kiss that really worked for me was Cameron Diaz and Jude Law in The Holiday, when she finally is able to cry for the first time, and realizes she loves him.

  16. There’s a scene between Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson in one of the Masterpiece versions of JANE EYRE, when Rochester is trying to convince Jane to stay despite his mad wife, that is so hot and sensual. I can’t remember if their lips actually meet in a kiss, but it’s a great, sexy scene for a Bronte adaptation.

  17. There’s a kiss in PRACTICAL MAGIC between Sandra Bullock & Aidan Quinn that is well – magic. It’s full of feeling & is forbidden which makes it even MORE!!!

  18. I watch a lot of movies but my memory is really bad. So nothing is really coming to mind. My favorite movie is While you were Sleeping but it has been so long since I have seen the movie, I can’t even remember the first kiss. I think a movie is in order this weekend.

  19. That has to be from Dirty Dancing for me! I love that movie! It has the best everything. 🙂

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  20. My favorite movie kiss was from Sweet Home Alabama, when they kissed in the thunder and lightning storm.
You ladies make me laugh. Congrats to both of you on your new releases.

  21. hottest movie kiss cripes that’s a tough one. I’ll go with Pretty Women though. it kinda stuck with me.

  22. i dont watch many chick flicks but one does come to mind and that is from the princess bride. lo ve that movie!

  23. I loved the steamy kisses that Clark Gable gave Vivien Leigh as Rhett Butler and Scarlet O’Hara in GONE WITH THE WIND.

  24. I like the part in VELVET GOLDMINE where Ewan McGregor says “The curves of your lips rewrite history,” and the music goes dead as he kisses Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Glam-rock manlove for the win!
