Guest Post & Giveaway with Stephanie Tyler

We would like to give a warm welcome to Stephanie Tyler, who is here today to talk to us a little about her newest book, Surrender. This is the first book in a new series, Section 8, another hard-hitting romantic suspense. Take it away Stephanie!

Surrender

The Lure of the Ensemble Cast by Stephanie Tyler

I’ve always loved ensemble casts in TV shows, movies, and obviously, books.  The more characters, the better, because I feel no character lives in a vacuum and I want to see their multi-layered world.

For instance, Leverage, for me, is an awesome ensemble show – each of the characters has their own deal, their own backstory, their own reasons why they are that way they are.  (Um, hello, Elliot anyone?) And I love watching those reasons come out for the slow reveal over a season or even a series as a whole.

The A-Team (both the original and the new) is another example of a great ensemble.  I love how the characters play off one another.  I especially like guy banter 🙂

So it’s no surprise that Surrender, which is the first book in my Section 8 series utilizes an ensemble cast.  My characters come together under less than idea circumstances in order to, at first, save themselves, and later, to save one another.  Watching the characters come to rely on one another because they want to, not because they have to, is one of the things I enjoy most about reading and writing the ensemble cast of characters.

Surrender is Dare’s book, but it’s also Avery’s book as well.  She’s Dare’s half sister and she’s really the glue that holds this team together.  So in Surrender, you’ve got a very romantic love story, plus lots of action…plus Avery and her interesting love life.

So, tell me—what are some of your favorite ensemble casts in movies / TV / books?  Comment for a chance to win an eCopy of Surrender (either Kindle or Nook)!

  1. In books: I love the KGI Series by Maya Banks. On television: I like Criminal Minds.

  2. Since TNT has started showing Castle reruns I have become quiet a fan. I really enjoy science fiction. I am working my way through Stargate Atlantis. Downton Abbey what not to love. Books I am rereading Roberta Gellis’ Roselynde Chronicles and I have a old series by Mary Jo Putney that I would like to get back to as well.

  3. I’m so excited about the Section 8 series. I love ensemble casts in Avengers and The Hangover and on TV I like Game of Thrones.

  4. Hi Stephanie, thanks for the guestpost. I used to love the A-Team, and you tell me there is a new series??? I will have to check that out.
I do love teams. I agree with the first commenter, I love Maya Banks’ KGI series. But all kinds of brotherhoods, and where they all get their own romance. BDB by JR Ward, Breeds by Lara Adrian, Paladins by Alexis Morgan. I can go on and on 🙂

  5. This is hard because I don’t really watch tv. When I was a teen it would have been the A-team and when I was little Hogan’s Heroes (it was just silly fun).

I can’t wait to start this new series. Thanks Stephanie for all the great reading material.

  6. I love the Walking Dead and the big bang theroy. Cant wait to read your new book.

  7. Cheryl Sanders

TV Series would have to be CSI Miami and books would be any military, government, alpha man romance series. Thank you for the giveaway!

  8. It would be the X-Men from the Marvel Comics and Grimm and Once Upon a Time from the TV series. Harry Potter’s gang from Harry Potter series (the books and movies).

  9. My top three book series all have large cast of characters, most of which appear in important roles in every book: The Kate Daniels, Mercy Thompson and Southern Vampire (Sookie Stackhouse/Tru Blood) series.

Angel, Buffy and The Big Bang Theory from tv. If it focused solely on one couple or character, none of them would have been so good.

  10. FRIENDS was such a great ensemble cast and SEINFELD. Right now I’m loving THE BIG BANG THEORY.

  11. love the old a-team, Criminal MInds, Law and Order and Leverage it great.
    sounds like a great read.
