New Series Spotlight & Giveaway with Annie Nicholas

Scent of Salvation Spotlight image

It’s time for the August New Series Spotlight! If you love series books as much as we do, you’ll know that there are tons of them out there, and we don’t always find out about them right when they come out. So we are trying to help you find some new series reads. Each month we will feature a new up and coming series that we think you should know about!

**Authors if you want your series featured contact MinnChica.**

Annie Nicholas writes paranormal romance with a twist. She has courted vampires, hunted with shifters, and slain a dragon’s ego all with the might of her pen. Riding the wind of her imagination, she travels beyond the restraints of reality and shares them with anyone wanting to read her stories. Mother, daughter, and wife are some of the other hats she wears while hiking through the hills and dales of her adopted state of Vermont.
Annie writes for Samhain Publishing, Carina Press, and Lyrical Press.

New Series Description

This is series about Eorthe, an alternate Earth, where humans never existed. Instead it’s populated by every creature in our mythology. The first book is to establish this new world where the people like vampires, shifters, and many other things have never been influenced by human morals or culture. The shifters are feral, the vampires blood thirsty, and incubi to die for…literally.

Dr. Susan Barlow, a human physicist on our Earth, has created a Dimensional Gateway machine that the US military has seized. Feeling betrayed by her colleagues, she destroys her life’s work to keep it from being abused. This causes a gateway to open and tosses her through to the unknown. This city girl born and raised is lost in the woods, in another dimension, where no one has ever heard of a human.

How did the idea come about

I love telling this story because it shows how twisted my mind is. LOL

Both my sons were very ill with strep throat. Fever for days. When one was awake, the other was asleep, and vice versa. In other words, I had slept more than a few hours in days. I felt like the Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and antibiotic dispensing machine.

About two in the morning, I had both boys in one bed so I could watch them together. My oldest’s fever was raging and I was waiting anxiously for the meds to kick in or I’d have to place him in a cool bath. Again. I was sitting on the floor and rested my head on the mattress and fell asleep.

In a matter of minutes, I dreamt of this whole world. I spent the next nine months writing book one and about a year editing it. If you’ve read where this story comes from and read the book, you’ll see much of the inspiration within it. By the way, my boys are fine now. 😀 **We are glad to hear that**

Series plan

There are four books planned so far based in the wolf shifter culture. I do have plans for spin-offs of the mysterious dragons of the east.

Each book will have a different hero and heroine. New characters will be added in each book but there will be carry-over characters as well. Not every book will have a human in it. They are written in the third person point of view. I mention this because I have series in both third and first pov.

  1. “a Dimensional Gateway machine that the US military has seized” = Stargate? Did you ever see the SyFy series?

  2. I am a HUGE fan of Annie as an author, but this book is, by far, MY FAVORITE book of hers that I have read. Aside from the HOT love scenes, the text throughout is so witty, and it has been written in such a way that makes you very eager to not only find out what happens on the next page, but also what may happen beyond this book. Did I mention that I LOVED this book?! 🙂

Thanks for the awesome giveaway. I would love to read this series. It sounds really good.

  4. I love dimensional stories. They are about what could have been if that conjunction happened differently.

  5. This story sounds very unique and I like the idea of series spotlights since I am always looking for a good series to read.

  6. Congrats! Scent of Salvation sounds like a great beginning to a new series. I love the mix of PNR with Sci-fi elements. As if the Blurb isn’t enticing enough, after reading the excerpt, especially the extend version where Susan encounters Kele, I am soooo fiending to read it!
