Interview with Carly Phillips

We’d like to welcome back to The Book Pushers one of our favorite small town contemporary romance authors, Carly Phillips. Carly is the author of the very popular Serendipity series. With the upcoming release of Perfect Fling, we have Carly here to talk to us.

Carly Phillips lo

Welcome to The Book Pushers, Carly!

Carly: Thank you! I always love coming to visit you!

The Book Pushers: What can we expect from Perfect Fling?

Carly: Perfect Fling tackles the subject of what happens to someone who is raised to believe he’s no good? How can he be convinced otherwise when that voice in his head overrules what his heroine sees? Cole Sanders has spent years under cover and barely knows who HE is. He likes it that way, distant from everyone and not letting anyone close. Until a one night stand with good girl Erin Marsden leaves them with the closest connection of all – a baby! Then Erin is threatened and Cole steps up to protect her forcing them to come to terms with each other. And love.

The Book Pushers: What’s next in the Serendipity’s Finest series?

Carly: Up next is PERFECT TOGETHER, Sam Marsden’s story in February 2014. I can’t say too much about Sam because you meet his heroine in PERFECT FLING – and I don’t want to spoil things. Suffice to say, he’s bowled over on first meeting! 🙂

The Book Pushers: Once this trilogy of books is over, what is next for the town of Serendipity?

Carly: I’m currently thinking about what comes next so … stay tuned! You can join my newsletter via my website at www.carlyphillips.com so you’ll be first to know. I also post at Facebook: www.facebook.com/carlyphillipsfanpage and on Twitter: www.twitter.com/carlyphillips.

The Book Pushers: Do you have a favorite couple or plot line that you have written in the Serendipity series?

Carly: I’m not supposed to say, right? First I loved Ethan (Serendipity), then Nash (Destiny), then Dare (Karma), then Mike (Perfect Fit), now Cole (Perfect Fling) … and Sam (Perfect Together)! Hehe. Sorry! I wonder who readers love best!

The Book Pushers: What made you decide to continue expanding the stories and the people involved in Serendipity?

Carly: The Serendipity’s Finest series flowed naturally from Serendipity. Sam stood out to me and to readers, so it felt right to give him a story … but when I set up his family I realized he wasn’t about to come next. He needed his siblings’ stories told first! Does that mean I saved the best for last?

Perfect FlingThe Book Pushers: If you were talking to a reader new to Serendipity; which book or series would you recommend they start with and why? (Yes, E has a vested interest).

Carly: I would recommend readers either start with SERENDIPITY or PERFECT FIT because to me, each stand alone to introduce readers to a new family and set of characters as a “book 1”.

The Book Pushers: If you could collaborate with any other author, who would you most like to work with?

Carly: Wow you are the first to ask me this! Thinking … you stumped me! There are so many talented authors out there who I love!

The Book Pushers: Have you ever thought about writing a historical or paranormal romance? Why or why not?

Carly: No, I’m not a good detail person and historical romance is all about period detail! I’d be in over my head!

The Book Pushers: What book(s) are you reading right now?

Carly: Right now on my Kindle: Surrender (book 1) by Melody Anne and after Marie Force’s Time for Love.

The Book Pushers: Can you remember the first romance novel you read and what made you fall in love with the genre?

Carly: Yes! LaVyrle Spencer, Separate Beds. Hooked me and drew me in. That was IT for me!

The Book Pushers: Who is your favourite villain in a romance and do you have one that you would like to redeem?

Carly: Hmmm … I’m not a big reader of romance with heavy duty villains … although I would have said Kaleb in Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series but she redeemed him and beyond in Heart of Obsidian!

The Book Pushers: If you were offered to have a romantic dinner date with a fictional dream hero of yours, who would it be and why?

Carly: Really? Seriously? Oh my! Give me a Kristen Ashley hero who is all wrapped up in and about ME! 🙂 Fun question! LOL.

Thanks so much for being here today Carly!
