The most challenging part of writing a paranormal.
Since I love reading paranormals it should be easy for me to write one….right? Wrong! Though my love for the supernatural is borderline obsessive – it doesn’t make it easier for me to write Paranormals. The most challenging part of writing a paranormal for me is keeping up with all of the characters powers. Luckily for me there are only three supernatural beings in Christmas Fantasy. Therefore, keeping their powers straight was easy.
The second most challenging part of writing a paranormal is making it believable. Of course no one really believes in the beings I create, which is why I have to work extra hard to describe my characters in detail so that the reader can get a clear image of them in their mind as they read. You may not believe in them, but as long as you can picture them and almost feel them breathing on your neck as you read my stories…then I’ve done my job.
In Christmas Fantasy Devin has to convince Alyssa that his inner beast can be both naughty and nice. Convincing me was easy…I love Devin Jordan with all of my heart and I don’t care that he’s not human. But convincing Alyssa is going to take some work. However, Devin is up for the challenge.
Writing Devin’s character wasn’t challenging at all – probably because I was half in love with the thought of him even before I began writing the story. Imagine a tall, handsome blond with a chiseled jawline and a physique to die for. Now imagine the torment he’s experiencing because he craves his secretary but he doesn’t want to reveal to her what he really is. He tries to hold back his feelings but the beast in him wants to claim the woman that is meant to be his for eternity.
*Sigh*
Now do you see why I love Devin Jordan?! ☺
