I love my Hollywood romance books, so when I read the blurb from this one, I couldn’t wait to read it. While I think this book could have been amazing, it fell short for me.
Declan went through a rough patch and had to watch all his mistakes splashed across the tabloids. He’s accepted a new role that is going to take everything out of him, and he’s determined to show the world that he’s changed. One last weekend in Vegas with his buddies before the role starts is his last chance to let loose before immersing in his character.
Reagan is enjoying a weekend away with the girls, and when she’s introduced to Declan, she can’t believe her luck. She crushed on him for years, and getting the chance to know the actual man is throwing her for a loop. But a sexy weekend with Declan is just what Reagan wants, whether he can promise her something beyond that is the big question.
I think this book had the foundation to be amazing. I loved the set up, and as individual characters, both Reagan and Declan were super interesting. I would have loved the see how Declan handled being folded back into the Hollywood limelight, and how Reagan would have handled that around her evenings as an ER nurse. Unfortunately, since this was a novella, the book felt under-developed on all fronts.
I felt like I needed so much more: romance, character development, time. The romance had a feeling of insta-love to it, which I just found myself struggling to believe in. I needed more than a sexy weekend romp to believe that these two had the kind of staying power that Erickson led us to think they had. It just wasn’t enough for me.
All in all, I felt like I needed more to really enjoy this story. Don’t get me wrong, the sex was super hot and well written. However, I just needed more time for the rest of the story to develop to believe in the romance. I wish this would have been longer!
