Secrets #3

25022984Who said nerdy can’t be sexy?

Self-confessed gold digger Dylan Price is cooling his heels as a waiter at a trendy West Hollywood restaurant, waiting for the sugar daddy of his dreams to walk through the doors. Someone rich, sophisticated. Preferably old.

Bookish Simon Wainwright couldn’t be further from Dylan’s ideal. Aside from his terrible fashion sense, Simon suffers from a glaring lack of a Beverly Hills mansion. And he’s barely over thirty!

Dylan, however, isn’t made of stone. Coincidence, an obscene candle, even Simon’s dorky cardigan compel him to give the shy academic a very special birthday gift, which Dylan files away as a one-night stand. But when Dylan’s quest lands him in hot water, he runs to Simon to hide.

The two take off for Las Vegas, where Dylan takes upon himself to give Simon a complete makeover. For reasons he can’t comprehend, Dylan begins to reevaluate his life—and what he holds most dear. But with danger not far behind, he might be too late.

Warning: Contains a nightclub where the staff is as hot as the food, a waiter with a smart mouth (in more ways than one), a nerdy college professor, Vegas “boylesque” shows, and lots of smexy times.

I love this series. Great characters, snappy dialogue and lots of action (in and out of the bedroom). Dylan is looking for love. Sugar daddy love. He wants someone to take care of him and set him up financially and he’s willing to be the best boytoy out there in order to snag that lifestyle. It never really works out for him though. He’s vanilla masquerading as Rocky Road so his many attempts at being a boytoy fizzle out but he’s all about the try. He’s work flirting with a cutie guest and ends up enjoying a one-night stand with the nerdy Biochemistry prof. All sweetness and light but Dylan bails because it doesn’t fit in with his long term plans.

Dylan ends up trying to hook up with an older movie producer, Ed which turns out to be a comedy of sex toy errors which eventually leads up to murder, mayhem and a Mexican cartel. Looking for a safe place to lie low Dylan chooses to look up his hottie one-night stand professor and they friendzone it Las Vegas until the heat dies down.

Dylan uses his street smarts to make the trip a fun makeover for Simon. There’s friendship and hot sexy times for the two of them. I loved Dylan. He was mercenary but so oddly sweet about it. He’s worried for his future and he’s goes about securing it the wrong way. All he needed was to meet Simon to get him back on track and I’m so glad that happened. Simon was adorable, so earnest and kind. Quietly sexy. They’re a great couple and this was a fun read for me. I can’t wait for Teague’s story with the angry bartender!

I’m giving Secrets and Bow Ties an A-.
