Review – In The Company of Wolves by Paige Tyler

Reviewer: MinnChica

I am a big fan of Tyler, and I’ve really enjoyed all her paranormal series so far this year!

Becker loves his job on the SWAT Team and his role in the pack, but when he meets his mate during a raid, he doesn’t think twice about helping her escape. Tracking her down and finding she needs his help, Becker goes undercover into her dangerous world, determined to help her and her small pack make it out alive.

Jayna is stuck between a rock and a hard place, her alpha dragged her into a mess she can’t get out of, and with other people looking to her for guidance, she is a little lost. But with Becker at her side, Jayna finds not only a life partner, but also someone to help take on some of her burden.

I really enjoyed this book, but I have to admit that I was a little disappointed we didn’t get to spend much time with the SWAT team. With Becker undercover for most of this book, we spent way more time in the middle of Jayna’s life and mess, and barely any time with the men of the SWAT team. That being said, I adored meeting some of Jayna’s packmates, and hope we see more of them in the future.

I adored Becker. He is such a fun loving, free spirit kind of hero. He is so laid back and always telling a joke, but the moment he met Jayna he was also 100% devoted to doing anything and everything within his power to make sure that he could care for her and protect her. I loved that he was so willing to jump into the fire for her, even though he wasn’t totally sure what exactly he was getting himself into.

Like Becker, I also really liked Jayna. She was sweet, caring, and completely dedicated to her small little pack. She wanted nothing more than to keep them all safe and protected. Being stuck in their position weighed heavily on her, and it was obvious that she was trying to keep everyone safe the best way she could. I loved that about her and watching her step up into the alpha role was so wonderful.

The romance between Jayna and Becker was definitely high stress. They didn’t really have a lot of time to be romantic and lovely-dovey when they were trying to escape the mob. But it really worked for them (and me). I liked that their romance was action filled. When books have the fated mate trope, it’s a bit easier to believe the insta-love, and Tyler’s books do it so well.

All in all, I really enjoyed the 3rd book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. I thought Becker and Jayna were wonderful characters and I thoroughly enjoyed their romance. I can’t wait for more!
I give In The Company of Wolves a B

  1. I picked up two of her books at the National Book Festival a few months ago. So far I have read one and really enjoyed it. Your post has reminded me I need to keep reading Tyler.
