Breaking rules and breaking hearts

Free-spirited Chloe lives life on the edge. Unlike her soon-to-be married sisters, she isn’t ready to settle into a quiet life running their family’s newly renovated inn. But soon her love of trouble–and trouble with love-draws the attention of the very stern, very sexy sheriff who’d like nothing better than to tame her wild ways.

Suddenly Chloe can’t take a misstep without the sheriff hot on her heels. His rugged swagger and his enigmatic smile are enough to make a girl beg to be handcuffed. For the first time, instead of avoiding the law, Chloe dreams of surrender. Can this rebel find a way to keep the peace with the straitlaced sheriff? Or will Chloe’s colorful past keep her from a love that lasts . . . and the safe haven she truly wants in a town called Lucky Harbor?
*Blurb from Goodreads*

I’m a big fan of the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis, and I was really looking forward to the youngest sister Chloe getting her HEA with the one and only sexy Sheriff Sawyer. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.

Chloe has always lived on the road, going from place to place and never needing a home base. But now that she and her sisters have the B&B, and her sisters are settling down, Chloe realizes that a place to call home might not be such a bad thing. With her asthma (and the sexy sheriff) constantly giving her grief, Chloe tries to find a way to make Lucky Harbor her more permanent home.

Sawyer has been trying to make up for his bad-boy childish mistakes his entire life. His father still thinks of him as the screwed up little kid, and the bad crowd he ran with as a teen is still running amok in town. Although Sawyer doesn’t want it, something about Chloe’s wild nature calls to him. He’ll do just about anything to keep her on the straight and narrow, and comfortable in his arms.

Ok, where to start… There were so many awesome things I loved about this book! Let’s start with Chloe. I absolutely adored her. She was wild and free spirited and so strong in her desire to live life to the fullest. But at the same time she was vulnerable and skittish, especially when it comes to expressing any kind of love. The fact that she was both scared of her feelings for her sisters, as well as those towards Sawyer just made her entire character that more believable and loveable. I also LOVED the fact that Chloe was asthmatic, and some of the many jokes she made regarding her asthma. Having been diagnosed with asthma about two years ago, I found myself relating to her on so many more levels than I did with any of the other sisters.

And Sawyer, damn he such a great hero: reformed bad boy who thinks that he still needs to prove to everyone around him that he’s changed. I loved that Sawyer was somewhat oblivious to the fact that almost everyone had already forgiven him, and that many people in town did everything in their power to protect his reputation as one of the best Sheriff’s around. I thought he was so sweet and caring and loving and the perfect match for Chloe.

I thought that the romance in this one was superb. Chloe and Sawyer dance around each other for a good portion of the book. Their sexual tension is so well done and I love the struggles they each have about being with the other. I was also really glad that there was no big fight or breakup or heartache. I think I would have been disappointed with that, instead they really worked at communicating and making it work.

I’m sad to see that the sister’s all have their stories done now, but can’t wait to hear more about the other people in Lucky Harbor. This series has been and probably will continue to be a favorite of mine.

All in all I adored this book. Chloe and Sawyer were so perfect for each other. They were both wonderful characters that pulled me in and had me loving them immediately. I think this might even be my favorite of the series so far.
I give Head Over Heels an A+
