E’s 2018 in Review

2018 has come and almost gone. In some ways I will be glad to put this year behind me but in others I will be sad. It has been a year of upheaval and change, a year of highs and lows, a year of challenges and stresses, a year of successes and losses. My family has dealt with multiple deaths and unexpected health problems, an engagement and the subsequent blending of three cultures, promotions and milestone birthday celebrations. Wanderlust striking with over half the family moving over the summer ranging from a 45-minute shift to across the ocean. Having competed for and winning a more challenging position, didn’t know what I was getting myself into, the kitties and I moved to Europe away from all that is familiar. This has been one of the harder moves because I went from having family and friends in close proximity to juggling a minimum 6-hour time difference but the adventure has been great.

All of this has impacted my reading this year and VERY obviously my reviewing. Things I wanted to start have been left waiting and things I was doing have languished. I am hopeful now I have found my footing I will have the mental energy to discuss books on a regular basis again since I do miss it. As a result, while I have a “Best of” list some of my “Must Haves” won’t be on it because they are still on my TBR. I am an emotional or a mood reader and if I am not in a receptive mind-frame rather than ruin an anticipated read, I will wait. I did manage to discover some new to me authors this year who have been added to my watch list. I hope you find something on here you have enjoyed or will enjoy and that 2019 is a good year for all of us!

Happy reading,
E
