Welcome to Need to Know—Because a Woman Can’t Be Too Informed
Dating in D.C. is like navigating an apocalyptic wasteland populated by men in expensive suits with zero mating potential. Need to Know provides all the information a savvy single woman like you needs to avoid dating disasters.
By night, Jordan McAdam is the proprietor of a popular website that rates D.C.’s hottest bachelors—everything from how quick they are email you back to their skills in the sack. She’s been burned once too often to accept any man at face value. By day, her job as an office temp puts her in the perfect position to do a little fact checking on her rich and powerful subjects.
When her latest assignment brings her face to face with the sexy but mysterious Forest Redder, Jordan decides to do a little “hands on” research of her own. To Jordan, he seems like the perfect man – but she knows there is no such thing. Moreover, there’s a big problem: Forest knows Jordan’s the woman behind the scandalous site—and Jordan knows he knows. Will he expose her secret—or find his own posted on Need to Know?
*Blurb from Goodreads*
Jordan started one of Washington’s D.C. newest and hottest websites around, Need to Know. It’s an anonymous website where the single ladies of D.C. can log in and find out information about the bachelor men in the city. An excellent resource to weed out the crazies and keep hold of the good guys, Jordan finds herself the most popular lady in D.C. (with the ladies at least). Her temp job helps her cover her identity, all while verifying any and all information she can about the bachelors on her site.
Forest is a tough nut to crack. As one of the most eligible bachelors of the city, Jordan is determined to get any information she can on him. But Forest has other ideas, mainly ones that involve the two of them naked together. As Jordan’s site gains more and more notoriety, Forest hopes that she will trust him with her secret, despite the fact that he’s already found out all the details.
I enjoyed this book. It had a different premise than I’ve ever seen before in romance, and I loved LOVED the idea behind a need-to-know dating site. If my college campus would have had something like this, I could have avoided a lot of dating disasters back in the day. 😀
The romance in this one was so well done. I loved that both Jordan and Forest had some pretty heavy baggage going into their relationship, but despite that and the secrets, the two of them were still able to come out on top. It was clear as day that these two were perfect for each other. Jordan was able to pull Forest out of his work, and get him to live a little. While Forest was able to give Jordan a helping hand, not just with her business but with advice for her personal life as well. They were each other’s sounding board and strong shoulder, and I adored them together.
Dimon has also done a wonderful job creating some serious sexual tension between these two. While most of her books are hot, Hot, HOT, I thought this novella was perfectly balanced between the sexual chemistry, the tension, and finally the actual smexing. I know this novella was written as a Cosmo Red Hot Short Story, but I can only hope that Dimon will get the chance to revisit Jordan and Forest in the future.
The secondary characters in this story rocked as well. Between Forest’s best friend, Wendell, to Jordan’s best friend, Elle, the entire cast of characters was fun to read. I especially loved the moments when Jordan and Elle would sit down together and go over the horrific and hilarious stories they had uncovered about the bachelors of D.C. I laughed and cringed at the thought that they were all probably true!
All in all I thought Dimon did a wonderful job creating a truly unique romance short. I adored Jordan, and thought she was the perfect heroine for Forest, the ultimate hero. The storyline itself was fun and sexy and full of hilarious little anecdotes. I can’t wait to see what Dimon comes up with next.
I give Everything You Need to Know a B
