It’s time for the April New Series Spotlight! If you love series books as much as we do, you’ll know that there are tons of them out there, and we don’t always find out about them right when they come out. So we are trying to help you find some new series reads. Each month we will feature a new up and coming series that we think you should know about!

Today we have a favorite author of mine, HelenKay Dimon, here to chat with us about her latest series the Holton Woods. We will be posting our review of the first book in the series, Mercy, later today. And let me tell you… WHOO HOO is this book sexy!
New Series Description:
This is an accidental series. The idea started with one book – MERCY – and spun out from there. Burned CIA agents, a former criminal boss and his enforcer…the idea was to take this rag tag collection of folks with limited biological families and rough histories and throw them together as they try to navigate real relationships and escape past dangers. Right now the series is informally called Holton Woods, which is the name of the super club owned by the hero in the first book, Jarrett Holt. Holton Woods is a constant in the first two books but I’m not convinced it’s the best series name. I am open to suggestions for another one. No, really…
How did the idea come about:
The idea for the first book had been kicking around in my head for a long time. Years ago I wrote a book called RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW about undercover agents. There was a secondary character and I got in my head that on a former undercover assignment she became the girlfriend of guy who owned a strip club and was thought to be a criminal boss, and she brought down his organization. Then he cut a deal and beat the criminal charges, but she couldn’t forget him.
I never wrote that story but when I decided I wanted to write an erotic romance where the romantic relationship truly grew out of a hot sexual one and wanted to revisit the idea of an undercover agent falling for a bad guy who was part of her cover, I remembered that old character backstory. The strip club became a super club but the hero remained a very bad boy. The heroine in MERCY, Becca Ford, is not the same woman from RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW and the books aren’t related, but I started with that old idea and spun it into a whole new series. Once the characters were on the page and others started showing up, I decided the idea of a “former bad guys thrown together” type of series would be great fun.
Series plan:
Right now there are two – MERCY (Berkley Heat, May 2014) and ONLY (Berkley Heat, October 2014). I plan for two more related books and am trying to work that out now. Some characters carry over from one book to the next but each book has a new hero and heroine. The books are meant to be standalone, but I would love it if readers picked up all of them. 🙂
