BP Note: Today we have a special treat for you. Jessica Clare is releasing her fifth installment in the Games series, Body Games, and we are super excited to have her stop by with a peek behind the scenes and also a giveaway. Keep reading to find out how to enter.
Annabelle Tucker is still reeling from last season’s Endurance Island, when the man she loved played her for a fool. When producers ask her back for a new season it’s the last thing she’s interested in…until she hears her ex, the gorgeous but duplicitous Kip, will be there. Revenge and a grand prize? Yes, please!
But someone’s there to throw a kink into her plans. Someone tall and cut, and with the sexiest gray eyes. Jendan Abercrombie’s on an opposing team, but it doesn’t mean that Annabelle can’t lust after him, right? She’ll just have to save all that lusting for post-show, when she’s free to follow where her loins lead.
When a tribal twist puts them both on the same team – naked – will Annabelle be able to resist his very apparent charms? Or will she have to vote Jendan out to save her game?

Casting Endurance Island
Since I’m a Survivor junkie (I can quit anytime!!!), I actually try to stay fairly close to what I feel like Survivor-type shows pick to play the game. If you’re familiar with reality TV, there’s a type that they like to call ‘mactors’ – model/actors. Sadly, most of reality TV nowdays is made up of this kind of person. They’re on TV to become famous and further their careers. While this probably isn’t the kind of hero or heroine you’d always want to see, this does make good fodder for writing!
I’ve joked in one of my books that the ‘casting crew’ casts stereotypes, and it’s true. Try to think of a Survivor season that didn’t have a hot, lazy girl. Or a sweet Southern blonde? How about a determined Mom? Scheming nerd? Exactly. Survivor (and its sister shows) cast these types of people because they fall into easy categories that people enjoy seeing on TV and they’re also categories that don’t always fit so well together. Determined Mom isn’t going to get along with hot, lazy girl. Scheming nerd might have a crush on the sweet Southern blonde, but will that save her butt when it comes time to vote?
In addition to the usual cast of stereotypes, there’s always one D-list famous person. Maybe it’s an athelete, or a woman that was on a TV show as a child. It’s someone just famous enough to pique the interest of viewers to see how this person does.
And then of course, we have the comedic relief. You know, when they cast an old redneck who’s never left the farm, or the big burly strapping ‘bear’ biker? There’s always someone that sticks out like a sore thumb in the cast. These people are usually the first to go because the pretty people don’t want them around.
This is why, a lot of the time, my heroines are last-minute replacements. I like to think that they’re different than the usual ‘mactor’ types and it allows me to play with some of the tropes…
Now I’m off to write a scheming nerd heroine!

My addiction/guilty pleasure is ice cream, particularly good quality ice cream. I like to think that I could quit it at any time, but not sure that is really true!
Reading too many romance novels doesn’t count? 🙂
In addition to that, I also spend WAY too much time on reddit…
Watching youtube tutorials for all the crafts I’ve ever wanted to attempt…even when I know there’s not way I’ll live long enough to attempt but a tiny fraction of what I enthusiastically watch and “like”
Online with social media.
That would be reading and Twitter
TLC shows
chocolate
The Real Housewives
The Friday night wedding dress shows on TLC
other than books 🙂 I’d have to say reality cop shows. COPS, Alaskan State Troopers, JAIL… love ’em 🙂 Thanks for sharing and congrats to Jessica on her newest release!
My guilty pleasure is anything cold. I would go from ice cream to watermelon and than to frozen juice. I would tell myself I can quit tomorrow and tomorrow would come and I am still stuck in this cycle.
My addiction is definitely books but that’s a given here! I also love home renovation shows. They suck me in every time.
Ice-cream – not easy to give up though.
Mountain dew, Twitter, facebook, chocolate…I would say books but I would never quit those willingly, I’d lose my sanity.
