I try really, REALLY, hard to read each and every review book, especially if it’s one I requested. There is nothing I hate more in the world then finding a book I was interested about just doesn’t click with me. Whether it’s the author’s writing style or the characters or the overall plot, it makes me so sad when I pick up a book and don’t find myself falling in love.
That being said, I’ve also reached a point in my blogging/reading life where I just don’t have time to read a book that isn’t working for me. I’ve done it in the past, and it just makes me cranky. No one likes me when I’m cranky. 🙂
Here are just a cople of my most recent DNF:
Rodeo Riders by Vonna Harper
I love me some cowboys, so I was super disappointed that this one just didn’t work. I desperately wanted to like it, but something about the author’s writing style just wasn’t working for me. I found myself re-reading sentences over and over, all while still being a bit confused. I desperately wanted to enjoy this one, because the blurb really caught my attention, but I just couldn’t get into it.
Adam by Jennifer Ashley
This was another cowboy book I was looking forward to. However, I really struggled getting into the book. I struggled connecting to the characters and found that I just had zero interest in their love story.
Here is another books that I might try again in the future, but had to put down for the time being:
Rough Justice by Sarah Castille
Here was another MC book I was looking forward to. There wasn’t anything in particular I could put my finger on as to why I kept putting this book down, but it just wasn’t grabbing my attention like other MC books I’ve read. I’ll probably give it another try down the road, but I think I need an MC break for a bit. 🙂
I usually love Jennifer Ashley’s paranormal and historical books, but I have not yet tried her contemporary/cowboy books.
