Interview and Giveaway with Larissa Ione

Today we are so excited to welcome an all-time Book Pushers favorite, Larissa Ione, back to the blog. The fourth book in the Lords of Deliverance series – Rogue Rider – is out on November 20th, and we couldn’t be more excited. Today, we have Larissa here to answer some questions we had about writing two different series, and blending them together within one world.

Larissa – Welcome back to The Book Pushers!

Thank you! Awesome to be here!

The Book Pushers: When you first started writing the Demonica series, did you ever imagine you would spend so much time playing in and expanding the world?

Larissa: Oh, I imagined! Imagined and hoped and prayed…and I planned loosely beyond the original three books I was contracted for. I’d sketched out two plans; one for a trilogy, and one for a longer series. Thankfully, the first three books did well enough that the series was able to continue!

The Book Pushers:  What made you decide to create the Lords of Deliverance series within the Demonica world, and not start fresh?

Larissa: Really, I didn’t want to leave the world, and with the things I’d imagined for the Horsemen and the Demonica crew, it just made sense. Especially because I had a huge character arc in my head for one person in particular, and the Horsemen became key to that arc.

The Book Pushers:  How challenging was it to interweave the two series without overlapping them too much?

Larissa: On a scale of one to ten? Eight-hundred and seventy-three. At least, Eternal Rider was hell when it came to that challenge. I really struggled with exactly how intertwined I wanted the two series to be.

The Book Pushers: What is the greatest challenge you’ve run across while blending these two series together?

Larissa: The greatest challenge is something I struggle with even when I’m not blending two series together, and that is trying to keep things uncomplicated and the focus on the main romantic plot. I have a tendency to write multiple plots with multiple characters, and with each book in a series, there’s a lot of backstory. One series can be difficult enough when it comes to detail and backstory, but when you write a spinoff that is SO closely related to the original series…it gets dicey.

The Book Pushers: Has writing the Lords Of Deliverance series influenced or changed where you want the Demonica series to go?

Larissa: Yes and no. The Demonica series has always revolved around the hospital, and I don’t see that changing. But some big things have happened in the Lords of Deliverance books that will impact the Demonica crew, for sure, like changes in the Aegis and civil wars between certain species.

The Book Pushers: Can you tell us what is next up for the Lords Of Deliverance series (Puppy dog eyes) and can you give us any delectable hints?

Larissa: I’m such a sucker for puppy dog eyes! 🙂 Sadly, I can’t really give much in the way of hints because they’d be spoiler-y for Rogue Rider, but I can tell you that next up is Reaver’s book, which doesn’t have a title yet. He’ll finally get the answers he’s been looking for and an HEA he could never have predicted or dreamed of!

Thanks again for having me!!!!

Thanks so much for being here! Forever is offering to giveaway the full Lord of Deliverance series to one lucky commenter. Just leave a question or comment for Larissa to be entered. The giveaway is open to US only, and ends November 23rd. Good luck!

I loved reading Unleashing the Storm and am looking forward to reading your other books, I had the great pleasure to see you in NJ last year and your talk on the panel. I think you are an amazing person and writer, keep up the great work.

  2. I remember when I read the first book in the Demonica series. I can’t describe the thrill or excitement I felt when I finished the book. Larissa Ione continues to evoke these emotions along with others from me. I am so happy that Reseph finally gets his book. From book one of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I held out hope that Reseph would turn good again–at lease I hope. I totally love Larissa Ione’s imaginative mind!

  3. I love this series along with The Demonica series. I can’t wait to read Resph’s book. Thank you for the giveaway!

  4. I absolutely love this series!! Wished that we had more than 4 horseman….even though that sounds bad. Lol! Thank you for portraying some nice, juicy men..and writing this amazing series!

  14. I love Larissa Ione’s writing, I have ever since the Pleasure Unbound back in 2008! She has a such a way to draw the reader into wanting to keep reading a book for hours on end when you think you only read for a few minutes. Also, she makes you feel for the characters and their struggles as if they were your own family or friends actual struggles. Larissa is one of the greatest authors I have read in my life!

  15. love her books and cant wait for the next one in the series!!! would love to win these books instead of getting them from the local library

  22. I’ve read and re-read your books and each time I simply love them more. They’re great stories and extremely entertaining. I’m glad you decided to pick up the pen!

  23. Larissa is the best. She is so great to the fans. I can’t wait to read this new book. I’m been thinking about how Reseph’s story is going to play out. It’s been giving me a headache! I’ll just leave it to the professionals and enjoy the read! 🙂

  24. i really love all your books larissa and cant wait for reavers book cause he could knock wrath down a notch on my all time favorite yummy list!!

  26. I’m so excited now that the new book is coming out. I’ve been rereading the entire series to refresh it in my mind and know I will read it again and again. It is one of my favorite series

  27. This series is the absolute best. Each Demon or Vamp or Shifter is a description worthy of a read. With my vivid imagination I can see the tats of the horses; I can see the war between good and evil. I can appreciate the sarcasm, the jokes, the humor, of the brothers; I can appreciate the love, and the sex. Larissa is one excellent writer. All my books were loaned out and they all got thrown in the trash on purpose, man, I would love to win those books back.

  28. I was recommended your books by a friend on twitter and I’m glad I chose to read the Demonica series. Never would imagine I’d love demon-smutty stories with romance included so much. I have yet to read the Lord of Deliverance series yet, since I still have a few unread books on my bookshelf. So this would be a nice gift to win. : )

It’s always nice to see authors communicate with their fans.
(via twitter mostly for me since I use it more) And it’s really nice and appreciative that you are one of those individuals.

Larissa, although you’re done with the Demonica series, would you ever make some small side stories or novellas of the main characters/couples from there? 😀

  29. First up on my “what to buy with my Christmas Amazon.com gift cards” as many Larissa Ione books as possible!
