Interview and Giveaway with Larissa Ione

Today we are so excited to welcome an all-time Book Pushers favorite, Larissa Ione, back to the blog. The fourth book in the Lords of Deliverance series – Rogue Rider – is out on November 20th, and we couldn’t be more excited. Today, we have Larissa here to answer some questions we had about writing two different series, and blending them together within one world.

Larissa – Welcome back to The Book Pushers!

Thank you! Awesome to be here!

The Book Pushers: When you first started writing the Demonica series, did you ever imagine you would spend so much time playing in and expanding the world?

Larissa: Oh, I imagined! Imagined and hoped and prayed…and I planned loosely beyond the original three books I was contracted for. I’d sketched out two plans; one for a trilogy, and one for a longer series. Thankfully, the first three books did well enough that the series was able to continue!

The Book Pushers:  What made you decide to create the Lords of Deliverance series within the Demonica world, and not start fresh?

Larissa: Really, I didn’t want to leave the world, and with the things I’d imagined for the Horsemen and the Demonica crew, it just made sense. Especially because I had a huge character arc in my head for one person in particular, and the Horsemen became key to that arc.

The Book Pushers:  How challenging was it to interweave the two series without overlapping them too much?

Larissa: On a scale of one to ten? Eight-hundred and seventy-three. At least, Eternal Rider was hell when it came to that challenge. I really struggled with exactly how intertwined I wanted the two series to be.

The Book Pushers: What is the greatest challenge you’ve run across while blending these two series together?

Larissa: The greatest challenge is something I struggle with even when I’m not blending two series together, and that is trying to keep things uncomplicated and the focus on the main romantic plot. I have a tendency to write multiple plots with multiple characters, and with each book in a series, there’s a lot of backstory. One series can be difficult enough when it comes to detail and backstory, but when you write a spinoff that is SO closely related to the original series…it gets dicey.

The Book Pushers: Has writing the Lords Of Deliverance series influenced or changed where you want the Demonica series to go?

Larissa: Yes and no. The Demonica series has always revolved around the hospital, and I don’t see that changing. But some big things have happened in the Lords of Deliverance books that will impact the Demonica crew, for sure, like changes in the Aegis and civil wars between certain species.

The Book Pushers: Can you tell us what is next up for the Lords Of Deliverance series (Puppy dog eyes) and can you give us any delectable hints?

Larissa: I’m such a sucker for puppy dog eyes! 🙂 Sadly, I can’t really give much in the way of hints because they’d be spoiler-y for Rogue Rider, but I can tell you that next up is Reaver’s book, which doesn’t have a title yet. He’ll finally get the answers he’s been looking for and an HEA he could never have predicted or dreamed of!

Thanks again for having me!!!!

  4. Looking forward to diving back into the wonderful world of Demonica! 🙂 Any plans on expanding further into another series? If so, do you think it’ll be something new or still tied to the Demonica storyline?

  5. I love your demonica and rider series. I cant wait for Rogue Rider or Reaver’s Story to come out. I am friend with all of the roleplayers from the series, I’m in the demonica/rider groups. I also created a group for fans too. I would like to think you and other writers like you for getting me through the worst years or high school. I was bullied all through school and you writers helped me. Books helped me escape it when nothing else helped. Larissa you are a very talented writer, author and friend. Thanks for everything keep on writing. I love reading and writing poems you are very good inspiration. I write poems about life and love though none have been published.

  6. Larissa, your writing style is so rich . Meaning that the way your words are written make me crave more. Thank you for not only the Demonic a world but the horsemen. You took something I could have never thought of as sexy, and got me hooked! You could spin series off these books forever and I would remain a loyal fan
Thank you for giving me a sexy fun world to escape too. I am sure you’ve been asked this a hundered times but will our favorite angel get a book or will Tavin??

  7. Thank you thank you thank you for giving us a such an exciting world to escape to. From all of us who are not so creative and imaginative, thank you for this wonderful world that we could have never dreamed of if it weren’t for you!! How did this world and these characters come to you?

  8. I have been so in love with series ever since Desire Unchained literally fell in my lap. I have waited patiently as each new book and layer has been revealed in your stories and it gives me a lot of encouragement for being able to find great para-romance stories (i’d kinda given up hope). Thank you Larissa for just being you and rocking at it =)

  9. I love both series, Clarissa. But I am curious if you want your books to join the newest fad? Where paranormal romance books go to the big screen. I would love if either series did but then don’t want them to because most of the story would be chopped out because of censorship reasons.

  10. I absolutely LOVE Larissa Ione. She is a brilliant writer! I cannot wait to read Rogue Rider!! Okay, so I know my question may not be answered but I have wanted to know since finishing Lethal Rider, is Reaver the father of the LoD??? The only reason I ask is because of the fact that there are some parts of Reaver’s past that he can’t remember and the way Limos always runs into his arms…kind of “fatherly/daughterly” like???? Okay so you don’t have to tell everyone, just whisper it in my ear, I won’t tell 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win!!

  12. I have enjoyed every book of yours that I’ve picked up. They are awesome reads with great storylines. Love how they read quickly and keep me in the edge the entire time. It’s always my “go to” books when I just want to lose myself in a book. Keep them coming. 🙂

  13. As much as I am looking forward to the last book in the series – I am also sad to see the end of it. I am looking forward to more great books!

  19. Love all of Larissas books!! Very happy to have found her books. When my son left for BCT I so needed something to keep me from dwelling every second on my son being gone. These were lifesavers for me. I read them over and over lol. Can’t wait for Resphs story!!!

  20. Ive loved all your books, youre one of my favorite authors of all time 🙂 Cant wait to see whats next!

  21. A friend of mine turned me on to your books, and I have been thoroughly enjoying them. Can’t wait for the next one. Just out of curiosity, about how long does it take you to write one book once you have an idea of the characters, plot, etc.?

  22. Thank you for writhing such great books! I have recommended your books to several people and they are now just as hooked as I am. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

  23. I like how you are able to keep characters ‘alive’ for the reader without trying to write a whole new story that could be too much. The little glimpses into the lives of the Demonica characters help answer those thoughts we have running around about them.
    P.S. Tavin needs a story!!!

  24. Okay, I have to admit I hadn’t ready anything by you until this last year. I was going to nursing school and working nights with my preceptor when we started talking books and authors that we love. She mentioned Larissa Ione and so I put you in my Nook wish list and there you sat for about a year. After catching up with my regular authors because nursing school and having a baby during this time doesn’t leave you with much time, I finally downloaded a Lord of Deliverance book. Needless to say I was hooked! I read your Lord of Deliverance books and than went back to your Demonic series. I can’t wait for your 4th book on the Lord of Deliverance series. Yes, I have pre-ordered it so come Tuesday I will be deeply involved in Reseph’s story.

  25. Can’t wait for Reseph’s book! I re-read everything from the beginning of the Demonica series last month.

  26. I love all of her books and can’t wait for the next one. I have read all of them over 3 times 🙂

  27. I love all of larissa’s books, she is such an amazing writer. I can’t wait for Resephs book and to finally get to see the ins and outs of Reaver…..so excited.

  28. I want to be Larissa Ione when I grow up! I can’t wait to read ‘Rouge’!!! I can’t pick a favorite character, but if I had to I think it would be…Oh, who am I kidding? I can’t. Perhaps it will be Pestilence??? (I must admit to a bit of favoritism toward Wraith. He has such wit!) Thanks for the giveaway and Thank you, Larissa, for the interview.

  29. I have enjoyed the Demonica series and Lords of Deliverance series SO much! I can’t wait for Reaver’s turn!

  30. I love all your books. Can’t wait to read Rogue Rider! I’m so happy that Reaver will get his own book and HEA!!

  31. I am so in love with both of the series. I have read them all and do a lot of re reading and going back to my favorite spots in the book. I am so glad that Reaver is next. I am glad he will get his HEA. Now i am going to be patiently waiting for that book after I devour Reseph’s book and I am loving the little tidbits you have been giving.

  32. I’m excited for the next one! I love re-reading the other books, but it’s always nice to have a new adventure. 🙂

  33. Raonaid Luckwell

Larissa – You know how much I adore the Demonica and the Four Horsemen! Each one gets better and better. I cannot wait to read this last one. Thanks again for wonderful stories, unforgettable characters.

  34. Omg once I started reading the Demonica series, I couldn’t put it down. School has taken over my schedule until winter break so I haven’t gotten caught up with the Lords of Deliverance series but I can’t wait! Thanks for having the giveaway.

  35. I love how you have been able to weave the two series together while giving each its own unique feel!!! Keep writing!!!
