Ava March is the leading lady when it comes to Regency erotic m/m stories. She is here to tell us all about her latest series: Gambling on Love!

New Series Description

Gambling on Love is a Regency erotic M/M series about taking a chance on love. Each book has a point where a character takes that big leap of faith for the other. Where they put their heart—and their trust in the other—on the line and go for it. And for those who like actual gambling, with dice and cards and wagers, there is some of that in the series, too.

How did the idea come about

The short answer – one story idea led to another which led to another, and then I had a series. Longer answer – I have a thing for casting prostitutes as leads in my stories. The exchange of money for something as intimate as sex is ripe with conflicts. Conflicts I can’t seem to resist exploring. I decided to do another prostitute book and just let my angst-loving heart go wild with it. There’s a commanding, workaholic young duke who is, of course, ridiculously wealthy and who has been betrayed by an ex-lover. There’s the beyond beautiful male prostitute, working to pay off gambling debts, who has discovered that London is not at all the glittering city of his boyhood dreams. As their story was spinning about in my head, Max got a best friend—his only friend when the story opens. That best friend needed a story of his own…because best friends need love, too. And Max’s ever-useful, giant of a carriage driver couldn’t be left spending his nights alone in a lonely bed.

As everyone’s story continued to spin about in my head, I realized that not only did the stories interconnect a bit, but that they all had a similar theme—taking a chance on love. Hence the series title: Gambling on Love.

Series plan

Gambling on Love is a related series of three novels, each featuring a different hero/hero pair. Most of the heroes pop up in all the books, and the timelines overlap a bit…which proved rather tricky when it came to plotting each book. Can’t have the duke in London in book #2 when in book #1 he’s in the country on that same day. I ended up making an 1822 calendar timeline and layered in the chapters of each book in order to keep everyone where they are supposed to be.

Book #1 is All In with the Duke, and features Max (the duke) and Tristan (the prostitute). Sharp Love is book #2, which features Jack Morgan (Max’s principled carriage driver) and his old childhood friend William Drake (the card sharp). And book #3 is Viscount’s Wager, featuring Anthony Hawkins, Viscount Rawling (Max’s best friend) and Gabriel Tilden (Anthony’s teenage crush who is now a widower).

  1. Thanks Ava for explaining the series and how it came to you. Loved ‘All in with the Duke’ and can’t wait for the rest of the series. I love the way your books weave throughout all layers of Regency society (which is an endlessly sexy setting as we know!).

  2. FWIW, “All In With the Duke” is really awesome. I’m reading it now and 6thoroughly enjoying myself. And I’m super excited to read the books for Morgan and Rawling.
