New Series Spotlight – Petal, Georgia

It’s time for the August New Series Spotlight! If you love series books as much as we do, you’ll know that there are tons of them out there, and we don’t always find out about them right when they come out. So we are trying to help you find some new series reads. Each month we will feature a new up and coming series that we think you should know about!

Today we have a long time favorite, Lauren Dane here to talk about her new series Petal, Georgia. We were able to pin Lauren down during her super busy schedule to get the scoop, just for you!

New Series Description:

Petal, Georgia will be a small town, contemporary romance series featuring members of the Murphy family and perhaps a few others around town. At the heart of this series, as it was with the Chase Brothers, is family/friends and community.

How did the idea come about:

I love writing small town romance and I had so much fun writing my Chase Brothers books I really hated to leave Petal behind. But I’d given all four brothers their HEA and I didn’t want to make up brothers, etc.

Over the years since Making Chase came out, I’ve received a lot of mail about the Murphy siblings and the rest of Petal and I thought if and when I ever got an idea for a book set there I’d give it a try. So it was the setting for dirty/bad/wrong in the Three to Tango anthology but I wasn’t done!

I’d had a loose idea for Nathan’s book for a while but it didn’t really come into focus until last year. And then as I wrote it, Beth’s story came to me and I thought it’d be fun to do a series set in the town.

Series plan:

At this point, it’s looking like a four book series. I try to keep my series to 3 or 4 books. I find it works best for my own process and I never get sick of the characters, setting, etc.  It starts with Nathan Murphy’s book. Beth Murphy’s story will be next. I’m in the process of sketching out notes for the last two books as well. There are a lot of Murphys and a lot of other people we’ve seen in and around Petal who I’d like to give a story to as well.

Additional information:

I do get asked a lot if readers will be seeing any of the Chases in these books. Yes. The Murphys are very close to the Chases since Tate and Matt got married. And it’s a small town so you’ll glimpse others from the Chase books as well – both good and bad characters.
