Interview and Giveaway with Larissa Ione

Today we are so excited to welcome an all-time Book Pushers favorite, Larissa Ione, back to the blog. The fourth book in the Lords of Deliverance series – Rogue Rider – is out on November 20th, and we couldn’t be more excited. Today, we have Larissa here to answer some questions we had about writing two different series, and blending them together within one world.

Larissa – Welcome back to The Book Pushers!

Thank you! Awesome to be here!

The Book Pushers: When you first started writing the Demonica series, did you ever imagine you would spend so much time playing in and expanding the world?

Larissa: Oh, I imagined! Imagined and hoped and prayed…and I planned loosely beyond the original three books I was contracted for. I’d sketched out two plans; one for a trilogy, and one for a longer series. Thankfully, the first three books did well enough that the series was able to continue!

The Book Pushers:  What made you decide to create the Lords of Deliverance series within the Demonica world, and not start fresh?

Larissa: Really, I didn’t want to leave the world, and with the things I’d imagined for the Horsemen and the Demonica crew, it just made sense. Especially because I had a huge character arc in my head for one person in particular, and the Horsemen became key to that arc.

The Book Pushers:  How challenging was it to interweave the two series without overlapping them too much?

Larissa: On a scale of one to ten? Eight-hundred and seventy-three. At least, Eternal Rider was hell when it came to that challenge. I really struggled with exactly how intertwined I wanted the two series to be.

The Book Pushers: What is the greatest challenge you’ve run across while blending these two series together?

Larissa: The greatest challenge is something I struggle with even when I’m not blending two series together, and that is trying to keep things uncomplicated and the focus on the main romantic plot. I have a tendency to write multiple plots with multiple characters, and with each book in a series, there’s a lot of backstory. One series can be difficult enough when it comes to detail and backstory, but when you write a spinoff that is SO closely related to the original series…it gets dicey.

The Book Pushers: Has writing the Lords Of Deliverance series influenced or changed where you want the Demonica series to go?

Larissa: Yes and no. The Demonica series has always revolved around the hospital, and I don’t see that changing. But some big things have happened in the Lords of Deliverance books that will impact the Demonica crew, for sure, like changes in the Aegis and civil wars between certain species.

The Book Pushers: Can you tell us what is next up for the Lords Of Deliverance series (Puppy dog eyes) and can you give us any delectable hints?

Larissa: I’m such a sucker for puppy dog eyes! 🙂 Sadly, I can’t really give much in the way of hints because they’d be spoiler-y for Rogue Rider, but I can tell you that next up is Reaver’s book, which doesn’t have a title yet. He’ll finally get the answers he’s been looking for and an HEA he could never have predicted or dreamed of!

Thanks again for having me!!!!

Please don’t enter me in the giveaway – I am non US (pffft!) but I shall stroke my Demon Red Rubber Duckie signed by Larissa! 😀

  12. Demonica definitely had to be read in order because Larissa does tend to have really complicated plots and backstories for all of her characters, which makes the books that much richer. I’m sure this series is the same, so I’d love to win all of the books.

  13. Both series are phenomenal. I started with War’s book and had to find the Demonica series before reading more. I am really looking forward to Resephs book later this month.

  14. I am a huge fan of the Demonica series! Thank you so much. Also, an avid fan of the ACRO series. Sadly, I’ve not been able to start the LOD series yet! Definitely looking forward to it though. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us.

  15. Cannot wait for Reseph’s book to come out in a couple of days. LOL If I had a question or comment for Larissa directly it would be “Couldn’t you go on a Ritalin and Coffee binge for a few weeks and up Reaver’s release date to say, February *grin*.

Highly recommend any and all of Larissa Ione’s books. They do not necessarily have to be read in order, but all the back stories will make more sense if you do.

  16. Larissa is an awesome writer and I LOVE all her books. Thank you Larissa for sharing your worlds with us! I can’t wait for Rogue Rider to come out.

  17. Great interview and I love this series and I loved the other series too!!! I enjoy all your books! !!! 🙂

  18. I remember when my friend first let me borrow her book Eternal Rider. After 2 long days of waiting to see her again, I was asking her for Immortal Rider. I greatly enjoy this series and between Than and Reseph, I don’t know who I like more. I have so many predictions and I can’t wait to see if I’m right or not. Larissa I LOVE your work and I’m already counting the days til Reaver’s book. ♥

  19. Since the Demonica series is so fantastic, I’ve been looking forward to reading the Lords of Deliverance series, but haven’t had a chance to start yet. I better get started, because I’m way behind. 😀

  20. i have been a fan for years! i have reread my books so much that they are falling apart! i can’t wait for the new one!

  21. Huge fan of Larissa’s. I was hooked with Demonica and continued with Lords of Deliverance. Can’t wait to see what is coming next.

  23. Erin Walters Koiso

one of my absolutely favorite series EVER!!! love all of the Horsemen!!! Can not wait til Tuesday! YAY!

  24. Kelly Lynn Benson

This is an AMAZING series. I am going to be frankly honest that ANYTHING that Larissa’s writes is just flat out amazing. I can’t wait to see where her creativing mind will go next!

  25. This is a really great series and I sing its praises to anyone who will listen. And I’m a librarian, so I do have a lot of people that listen! I’m going to be very sad when it wraps up.

  26. Larissa’s, I absolutely love your books. I started reading them at a time when life was being exceptionally difficult. They gave me the break I needed!! Thank you!!!

  27. Great Interview!!! I can’t wait to read Rogue Rider and am excited that there is going to be another book. I guess I thought that there would be only the four in the Lord of Deliverance series. One of the things I love about your series is that they intertwine and you do it smoothly. Some writers seem to have trouble when they try to intertwine series. I am looking forward to reading more of your work in the future.

  28. I have to say I LOVE your books and cant wait for Nov. 20 keep doing what your doing please I found one of your books at wal-mart after that I am hooked. Thanks for sharing your world with me.

  29. Larissa is one writer that has grabbed me right from the get-go and hasn’t let go since! She hooked my about six pages into Pleasure Unbound and I’ve been slowly dying in between books ever since. Her plots are just convoluted enough to keep your interest, her characters are so believable you expect to be able to run into maybe Wraith just around the corner, and the way she intertwines those characters from book to book while keeping each one true to its own storyline is nothing short of masterful. So I say HURRAH for Ms. Ione and long may she keep the demons rolling.
