Today we are lucky to have one of my favorite contemporary romance authors, Carly Phillips, back at The Book Pushers to talk to us about her newest release in the Serendipity series – Perfect Fit. Take it away Carly!
PERFECT FIT and Visual Stimulation
I admit it – picturing my characters helps me write my books. If I can “see” who they are, it’s so much easier for me to fall in love with them and (hopefully) get readers to do the same. It’s hard because not everyone visualizes characters the same way – or even finds the same people attractive. Still, I’m going to go out on a limb and show you Mike and Cara … the way I see them.
Mike, his dark hair, brooding eyes, and muscled physique. Dillon McDermott. Looking like he looks right here. (Minus the baseball bat, but can’t really complain about this photo!)
Cara Hartley – well her looks actually tie to her name … which ties to ::ahem:: my obsession with ABC soap operas, past and present. In this case, an actress named Lindsay Hartley came to All My Children when it was still on the air, to play a character named Cara Castillo. If you’ve been following me since my Chandler Brother (The Bachelor) days, you know I use soap opera characters and actors/actresses to name my characters. I love to mix their real names with their character’s names in order to come up with the perfect name. Hence, Lindsay Hartley’s Cara became my Cara Hartley. Not to mention, she’s a PERFECT FIT (no pun intended – not really!).
So what do you think of my choice for Mike and Cara? If you’ve already read the story, did you have a different vision? If so, who?

I think your choices are just perfect! Could definitely picture them already.
I really like who you envision as Cara & Mike! I’m a visual reader, so I picture everything! Characters, scenes, how the towns look- everything! Thanks for the pics. When I read the book it will be so much better.
I dont like to see photos of real life famous people that the author has picture when they are writing- I like to go with the ideas that my own mind comes up with when I read
I think I’m different from a lot of readers that way
I have not read this book yet, but from the sounds of it, you have the character down perfect!
I love the your choice of Mike and Cara! I think Cara was always meant to be “played” by Lindsey.
I dont like photos of characters. I prefer the picture my mind conjures up from an authors words.
Haven’t read the book yet but I’d say those two would be pretty spot on…good choices, Carly!!
I always visualize the hero and heroine when I read a book. I haven’t read Perfect Fit yet (it’s on my TBR pile), but I like the choices for Cara and Mike. It was interesting to hear how Carly names her characters.
They look like a good fit to me 🙂 I can’t wait to read it.
Nice casting choices. Haven’t read the book yet.
I haven’t read this book so not really sure which characters I would choose. However based on your info, the ones you’ve chosen seem to fit perfectly 🙂
Thanks,
Lori

Thanks for the fun post and giveaway! I haven’t read this series yet, so I’m gonna have to defer to Carly’s expertise 🙂
I have not read any of this series yet, so could not say. I think both are great choices as character in books. Love Dylan, he is a great actor and super sexy. The girl is gorgeous and can use her as a visual for female characters. Thanks for the chance to win. Love Carly’s other books, definately checking out this book.
I haven’t had a chance to read the books yet, but I think both of the picks for your characters are fantastic. Now when I read the books I’ll know what they look like. 😀
I haven’t read the book yet but I think your choices are good ones. That’s one of the things
I like best about reading…imagining pictures in my mind.
Sounds like good choices. Thanks for sharing!
I haven’t read any of this series yet but they both sound like perfect fit’s to your descriptions. This series sounds like one I would quickly devour once I start it!
Thanks so much!
I haven’t read the book yet. However Cara and Mike do sound good together. But I need to read the book first to be absolutely sure.
