This good girl’s going bad.

Merry Kade has always been the good girl. The best friend. The one who patiently waits for the guy to notice her. Well, no more. Merry has just scored her dream job, and it’s time for her life to change. As the new curator of a museum in Wyoming, she’ll supervise a lot of restoration work. Luckily she’s found the perfect contractor for the job.

Shane Harcourt can’t believe that someone wants to turn a beat-up ghost town into a museum attraction. After all, the last thing he needs is the site of his dream ranch turning into a tourist trap. He’ll work on the project, if only to hasten its failure until the beautiful, quirky woman in charge starts to change his mind.

For the first time ever, Merry has a gorgeous stud hot on her heels. But can she trust this strong, silent man, even if he is a force of nature in bed? When Shane’s ulterior motives come out, he’ll need to prove to Merry that a love like theirs may be too hot to handle, but it’s impossible to resist.

It’s been a decent while since I read an adult contemporary romance so when I saw the ever so innocent, Victoria Dahl, posting some naughty excerpt links on twitter, I requested this for review.

Too Hot To Handle is a funny and very sexy romance with a cute heroine and a sexy cowboy. I loved Merry’s personality; she was bright, cheerful and positive despite the kicks given to her. And whilst she had chosen a bout of celibacy, she was no innocent. The vibrator scene was hilarious, especially when Merry started getting worried she was being creepy by getting off on fantasies with her nice and sexy next door neighbor, Shane.

I loved Shane’s interactions with Merry. She confused him and turned him inside out. It’s not long before Shane is falling for Merry’s fun personality but she also had a flirty side to her that made for fun reading. The blowjob scene in the car was hawt and the sex scenes were great.

What I didn’t understand was why Shane never revealed who he was. It seemed out of character for him knowing how close he was getting to Merry, and the fact she was the best friend of his best friend’s girlfriend. I could understand his anger in how his Grandfather treated him, but that part of the story was a little predictable. I knew early on in the book that it was going to be the big moment that would separate them.

Despite Merry’s cheerful personality, she had her insecurities and when Shane’s hidden agenda is revealed, everything came flooding out. What it did though was bring her closer to her mom whom she felt was distancing herself. Merry couldn’t understand that, but I loved the big reveal. I wish we got to see Merry’s mother on page rather than over the phone.

Other side characters had me in laughter, especially Rayelle who was a dirty old hoot. I do wonder if Alex’s missing brother will have his own book as I feel that there’s a story that’s brewing and waiting to be told.

All in all, this was a fun book with a cute heroine and sexy cowboy. It’s a little predictable but I can forgive that for a great romance. I give Too Hot To Handle a B
