Review – As Hot As It Gets by Elle Kennedy

How I got this book: eARC from author

After watching his teammates settle down one by one, Navy SEAL Jackson Ramsey is ready to say goodbye to the single life. He’s even met a woman who intrigues him, challenges him, and turns him right on—Mia Weldrick, the funny and beautiful gardener he can’t wait to get to know better.

Except Mia isn’t interested in dating him, which means it’s time for Jackson to unleash his Texas charm and do some serious wooing.

With a teenage brother to raise, two jobs, and, frankly, a complete disinterest in sex, Mia has no room in her busy life for a six-foot-five SEAL with a naughty streak a mile wide. But one hot kiss from Jackson has her imagining all the dirty ways she could fit him in.

It isn’t long before their no-string fling transforms into something more. As desire unearths emotions and deeply buried secrets, Mia has to decide whether to give love a chance to grow, or let it slip it away.

Warning: This Southern gentleman is wickedly ungentlemanly in the bedroom. He likes it rough and kinky, and he’s not afraid to make his sexual demands known. Anal, spanking, voyeurism, and other surprises await you in this last and dirtiest Out of Uniform installment.
*Blurb from Goodreads*

I’ve really enjoyed the Out of Uniform stories, so when I heard that Jackson would be the final installment of the series, I was more than a little bummed.

Jackson has watched all his friends find their happily ever after, and being the only one who wants to settle down, it’s been more than difficult for him. After a string of ridiculous blind dates, he meets Mia gardening next door. Instantly attracted to her, Jackson has to come up with a way to keep seeing her, especially once she turns him down for dinner. Although Mia wants a no strings affair, Jackson is determined to show her just how how much he wants her — in his bed and out of it.

Mia has been raising her brother, working two jobs, and rarely finds time for herself. Although she wants Jackson, she doesn’t have the time to commit to a relationship. But Jackson’s unwillingness to take no for an answer pushes Mia past all her boundaries, both in bed and in life. It’s not long before Mia realizes that Jackson is just what she needs to let loose and live her life.

I thought Kennedy did a great job wrapping up the final book in the Out of Uniform series. I loved the way it all wrapped up, when we were able to see all the guys together with their families, living happy and healthy. It was a bittersweet end to a series that has been so much fun to read and follow.

This book did not disappoint when it comes to the high heat level that Kennedy is known for. Jackson is one kinky dude, and I love the fact that he wasn’t shy about it. He was one hundred percent devoted to showing Mia just how great they could be together, and wasn’t above using his sexual prowess to hook her. There was one scene in particular that was uber sexy, and one that I don’t recall Kennedy using in the past.

I loved both Mia and Jackson as individuals, and as a couple. Poor Mia was struggling so hard to make sure that she could provide a great life both for herself and her little brother. She was a devoted sister, and seeing that connection between her and her little brother was one of my favorite aspects of the story. I love reading books with strong family connections, and this book had it in spades. I especially loved the way Jackson was able to be a part of their family without stepping on any toes.

I loved Jackson. He was such a great secondary character in all the previous books, and I loved getting the chance to know more about him. He was so sweet, so charming, and everything that I love to read about in my heroes. His single minded pursuit of Mia was so fun to read, and I adored the way he broke down all her walls.

All in all, I really liked the final book in this series, but it was hard saying goodbye. I’m going to miss this team of sexy, kinky SEALS. It was wonderful to see everyone from the previous books, and I loved the way everything wrapped up on a happy and fun note.
I give As Hot As It Gets a B+
