Today we have Christina Lee here to talk to us about her latest release: Whisper to Me.
Take it away, Christina!
Why I Love Writing Romance
Happily-ever-after books or movies have always been my escape. They’re one hundred percent guaranteed to help me smooth over a bad day, forget my troubles or worries—at least for a little while.
They’re also great at helping to flip my mood around. If I’m feeling grumbly, I find a quiet spot and dive into a book for five minutes, which usually leads to…several more minutes. LOL!
Romance appeals to my happy gene, my comfort gene, my all-will-work-out-okay gene.
Which might give you a hint as to why I’m not necessarily a fan of epilogues. THERE, I SAID IT! I am not a huge fan of epilogues.
Now wait a minute. Before you unfriend me from all social media: I would never say never. There is sure to be an epilogue I need to write in my future! But you won’t find one in any of my recently published books.
Let me explain. Hellooooo, are you still there? 😉
When I read the last line of a romance novel, I’m in my safe, happy, comfortable zone. Reading the epilogue sometimes puts a damper on things for me—it allows reality to seep back in and I don’t always want that.
I want what happens next to my beloved characters to be created in my own head. Or maybe not. Maybe I just want to leave them there, suspended in their happiness from that final page.
So I don’t always read the epilogue. Shocker, I know.
Hope that makes sense. Of course, it makes perfect sense to me. LOL
