UPDATED: Alternate methods of donating
Over the past week things in the romance community have been in a bit of an upheaval as the result of Ellora’s Cave suing Jane Litte and Dear Author for defamation. To see our reaction to this event you can visit here (all links open in a new window). A defense fund has been established because lawsuits are expensive. There is a link if you wish to donate at the bottom of this post or you can click on the sidebar widget for one through Go Fund Me. If you would prefer an alternate donation method we have added that to the end of this post. The below information is an excerpt from Smart Bitch Sarah’s post. If you have questions or would like more details so you can make an informed decision I recommend reading her post.
– Jane has set aside $20,000.00 of her own money for her defense, but that money will go quickly as the suit progresses.
– I’m administering the fund through GoFundMe, and contributions can be anonymous. I will not reveal donor information. If the defense case can be completed for less than $20,000.00, we will attempt to refund donor money through GoFundMe’s refund options.
– All funds, minus the fees charged by GoFundMe, will be used for Jane’s legal defense. I am not being compensated for my role in setting up the fund. Any funds that are left over when the suit is finished will be donated to the Society of Professional Journalists Legal Defense Fund.
DA Defense Fund Thanks for your consideration.
UPDATE: If you’d like to use an alternate method to contribute, there are two options available. First, if you’d like to use a credit card, you can send a contribution via Paypal to jane AT dear author DOT com. Please make sure to earmark the funds “Jane Litte/Dear Author Defense Fund.” As stated previously, if the total costs for the lawsuit are lower than $20,000.00, Jane will refund the monies donated.
If you’d prefer not to use a credit card, please email Sarah at sarah AT smartbitchestrashybooks DOT com.

And in less than 1 day $32,000 has been raised. I hope Jaid is taking note, the only thing that has caused irreparable harm to her company is this lawsuit,.
