Nassir is Raphael’s most animalistic of Seven, but he is also one of the most loyal. When Raphael tasks him with finding an Ancient archangel who has been in Sleep, Nassir will have to team up with the scholarly angel who is their best shot at finding the right location. But Nassir isn’t used to having a companion on his tracking hunts, and he’ll have to alter his style to accommodate the angel.
Andromeda is young and purely a scholar. She is hiding a few secrets, but is desperate to live her life as a scholar to the fullest. Helping Nassir and Raphael find the Ancient and wake him before he can be slaughtered, Andromeda will have to step outside her comfort zone to hunt with Nassir and play the dangerous game of strategy and deception with the Archangel forces pulling her in different directions.
This book was incredible. I love Nassir so much. He had so many animal-like qualities to him that I loved so much. He was feral and even his thought processes were so different and unique. I loved that about him and I found myself falling head over heels. HARD! I don’t know what is so magical about Singh’s writing, but her books always leave me is such a happy state of mind.
I adored Andromeda as well. She was such a scholar, but she also had a dark past that she was running from, hard. I was so scared that she wouldn’t be able to escape her past, especially as the story went on, but I loved the way Singh resolved it all in the end. It was a perfect resolution to her backstory and I may have cheer out loud when read it. =D
The romance between these two was perfect as well. I loved that they were such polar opposites, but fit together so wonderfully. I love the way Nassir knew automatically that Andromeda was the one for him, and had to fight to prove it to her. The fact that Andromeda took a vow of celibacy just added another hurdle for Nassir that made for a fantastic reading experience.
One of the things I love most about Singh is her ability to craft the most incredible plot arcs. I loved the direction this book took, and where the overall plot of the series is going. Singh creates the most incredible and imaginative worlds that I get immediately sucked into. They are dark and twisted and yet so beautiful at the same time. I love getting lost in her worlds and am already jonesing for the next book in the series.
All in all, this is another fantastic addition to the Guild Hunter series. I loved Nassir and Andromeda and can’t wait to see where the series goes next. The world is so vast and incredible and I can’t wait to dive back into the amazing world Singh created.
I give Archangel’s Enigma a B+
