Sports Romance Suggestions & Giveaway

Last summer I was desperate to read some post-apocalyptic romance books, and asked twitter for some suggestions. Everyone came out in full force with lots of ideas for me, so I create a post with all the recommendations.

Well, my taste has veered into a new direction, and I’m desperately searching for some spots romance books. I’ve got quite a few I love, and since Twitter was so nice to be before, I thought I’d ask them again. So, for anyone else who is looking to fall in love with sports heroes and heroines, here is the list that Twitter and I have come up with!

taking a shot*my favorite sports romance book cover, none other than Ty, with his sexy glistening abs!*

Jaci Burton’s Play-by-Play Series – These books jump from sport to sport, and are filled with super sexy heroes who are all the best in their sport. This series might be my favorite of the list. Goodreads

Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Chicago Stars Series – This series follows the Chicago Stars football team. The series takes place over many many years, and was the series that initially got me hooked on the sub-genre. Goodreads

Carly Phillips’ Hot Zone Series  – This series features sisters who work as sports agents. I adore these books, they give Burton a run for the money with all-time favorites!  Goodreads

Jill Shalvis’ Pacific Heat Series – This duology features two baseball heroes, and they were some smokin’ heroes at that!  Goodreads

Rachel Gibson’s Chinooks Hockey Team Series – Obvious this series is about a hockey team. For me, they were hit or miss, with some being wonderful and others not-so-much. Goodreads

Erin McCarthy’s Fast Track Series – All NASCAR and all super sexy. There were a couple that I didn’t like, but overall the series is smokin’ hot and super fun. Goodreads

Deirdre Martin’s New York Blades Series – This is another hockey series. I’ve only read a couple books in the series, but I remember enjoying them. Goodreads

Kate Angell’s Richmond Rogues Series – This is a baseball series, and I loved the first four books. I keep forgetting to go and get the 5th, I’ll have to put it on my never ending to-do list. Goodreads

The rest of these are books I haven’t read yet, but were recommend to me. I’ll definitely have to add them to my TBR.

Juliana Stone’s Offside Goodreads

Suzan Butler’s Off Her Game Goodreads

Bella Andre’s Bad Boys of Football Series Goodreads

Sierra Dean’s Pitch Perfect Goodreads

Sandra Cormier’s Bad Ice  Goodreads

Susan Andersen’s On Thin Ice Goodreads

Debra Kayn’s Wildly Goodreads

Jaci Burton was also kind enough to recommend the Romancing the Jock blog, as they have a lot of sports romance authors there. I’ll definitely be checking them out as well!

So there it is, the list that Twitter and I have come up with! Let me know your favorite sports romance book to be entered to win a copy of any of the books above (ebook or paperback, some may be geographically restricted). Giveaway is open to all and ends April 2nd.

  1. 2. love lice rachel Gibson hockey books
Jill shalvis, live blaze books by Joanne rock Leslie Kelly
thanks love sports and romasne wjhoo
great prize thanks have a great week

  3. I like Rachel Gibson’s hockey books as well. The SEP Chicago Stars series is definitely hit or miss for me.

  4. I am super, super picky about sports fiction (my favorite sports books are non-fiction because I’m really into sports), but I have few recommendations.

Both Can’t Buy Me Love and Crazy Thing Called Love by Molly O’Keefe feature hockey stars at the end of their careers and I thought that experience was very well done. These are both YA romance, but Liz Fichera’s Hooked is about golf and very sweet, and Sarah Skilton’s Bruised is about Tae Kwon Do, and awesome and the romance is so charming. (I can’t recommend any other YA sports romances, because the sports aspects have been terrible in most I’ve read.)

  5. Read and loved most of what you listed – here’s who I read:
    Kate Angell
    Jaci Burton
    Rachel Gibson
    Deirdre Martin
    Jill Shalvis
    SEP’s Chicago Stars

  6. Meant to add I am dying to get my hands on Toni Aleo’s Assasins books; believe they are all hockey related; also Juliana Stone – Collide, Offside etc. Think these are all ebooks.

  7. Besides what you have another good sport series is by Kelly Jamieson. I think it’s the Heller Brothers (and it’s hockey)….

  8. Sports romance is my favorite contemporary subgenre, and I adore SEP, Rachel Gibson and Molly O’Keefe’s most recent books. I’ve been frustrated, though, that so few sports romances have athlete heroines. I posted about it a few months ago (http://bit.ly/MC1FHY) and got a few suggestions but not enough and none that were particularly great. That’s my romance wish for 2013 – more sporty heroines!

  9. I love Bella Andre’s Bad Boys of Football series. I would love to read some of these other books.

  10. oh gosh I have not read many really. I want to find a good hockey one and you have suggested some really good ones 🙂 most recently I really liked The Practice Proposal – which has baseball in it.

  11. I haven’t read any lately 🙁 The last I read were Susan Elizabeth Chicago Stars if that dates me any….

  16. Great list of books. Have you tried Toni Aleo? She writes great books involving hockey players. She is actually married to a hockey player. Thanks for the giveaway.

  17. I’ve found that I really have enjoyed Molly O’Keefe’s books 🙂 And Miranda Kenneally writes solid YA featuring various sports (football, softball etc).

  18. I read about half the books above and I can tell you that the best ones I thought were from Chicago Stars Series by SEP.
    Thank you for the giveaway.

  19. JAci Burton’s are the best. DO NOT read Chasing Stanley, though, I think it’s by Deidre Martin?

  20. The most recent ones I’ve read were by Jaci which I enjoyed, especially the covers. I’ve read some of Deirdre Martin’s older ones. I know I’ve read more, but none stand out like Jaci’s.

  21. One of my favorites was Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally. I loved that the heroine was a football player too.

  22. I love many that you have mentioned, particulary love reading baseball stories. Got some good ones to check out from the comments too.

  23. Cheryl Sanders

My favorite right now is VK Sykes The Philadelphia Patriots Series but there’s so many good ones to choose from. Thank you for the giveaway!

  24. I have read sports stories from Jill Shalvis, Rachel Gibson and Deirdre Martin and have enjoyed them. I don’t know that I have a favorite I think they are called The Blades by Deirdre Martin and I enjoyed the whole team interaction.

  25. Texas Book Lover

My two favorite things are sports and romance books but the only series I have read where they are combined is Jaci’s Play by Play series which I adore. My favorite is still The Perfect Play! I am going to have to check out some of these others. If they are half as good as hers I will be in heaven!

  26. I loved Carly Phillips’ Hot Zone series and Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Chicago Stars series. Haven’t tried the others yet, but I do enjoy a good jock! 😉

  27. I love sports romance books! It’s so hard just to choose one favorite book, but at the top of my list of favorite sports authors are Rachel Gibson, Carly Phillips, and Molly O’Keefe! Thanks for the contest!

  28. I’m partial to hockey related books, so absolutely love Rachel Gibson’s Chinooks. I also like Susan Elizabeth Phillips’s Chicago Stars series. Juliana Stone’s Offside is on my TBR list, so I’m definitely looking forward to reading it!

  29. I’m partial to hockey related books so absolutely love Rachel Gibson and her Chinook series. I also like Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ Chicago Stars Series. Julianna Stone is on my TBR pile and I’m looking forward to reading Offside and Collide.
